The Var coastal path stretches for almost 200 km. With its unparalleled beauty, this hike means you can crisscross the region’s beaches, coves and cliffs while overlooking the Mediterranean – all of which you can enjoy while taking in the invigorating sea air.
Everything is just right, in other words, to get out there and tackle your hike and recharge your batteries as part of a wonderful winter break. The best time to go hiking is during the off season, when there is peace and quiet and you are far from the hustle and bustle of the summer months. With 300 days of sunshine a year, you’re sure to encounter fine weather and, what’s more, a climate that is particularly conducive to hiking. Once you’re kitted out properly, you can set off to discover the coast, when you’ll soon be bowled over by the changing sights and scenes of the coastline along the path. Although it’s now known as a coastal path, the randonnée du littoral was once a trail for customs offices, and you will be pleasantly surprised by its weathered mountains, headlands and crystal-clear waters… all the elements coming together to ensure you have a highly enjoyable time.
There are a number of different stages to the path, and we recommend the section that begins at the foot of the Résidence right next to the waves. You can strike out alone or take part in an organised hike leaving from Rayol with other participants. It is a beautiful loop where you will be accompanied by the scents of the Mediterranean flora and magnificent panoramas throughout the hike. The path of the old railway line or the exploratory circuits from Rayol are also a great introduction to hiking.
